How do we love?

Image
Here is my mum and dad When we talk about love, it doesn't refer to "love" between couples only. Love can be perplexing but simple at the same time. It exists as an instinct, for example, among the wildlife, even between the different species of animals. I grew up believing animals have a beautiful soul just like you and I do. When I saw a giant dog became protective of his young toddler master, I started to believe in that. People told me that dog loves their owner because their instinct told them that guy is providing thus they are their gods to love. But what about a young toddler who can barely walk? Isn't animals learn to love cute babies too just like we think lion cub is cute? Behind this mammalian instinct, there is agape love that makes us provide to the young and weak rather than exploiting. It's not too bad to provide to them when we have ...

Back to the Womb

I bet if you carefully observe, you would notice that humans are the only species on earth that never stop innovating, seeking to improve our self-defining life quality. Most of us work so hard, soak ourselves in sweat and blood that we could ignore pains and fatigue. To most of us, our hopes lie in the future but not in the present.  We built our faith not on the unseen but on our physical experiences. I used to justify why I love workout so much? It's because of fairness. You will see results if you show up. Unlike life, you could end up seeing nothing and getting nothing after giving everything you had. It's easier to deal with weight plates than people. Peoples are unexpected and fickle, weight doesn't. However, in another word, it's also saying that my value is built upon my self-defined justiceness, not upon how nature is supposed to operate. Our way as humans is to take control over everything instead of letting it operates on its own. Take an example of our fro...

Today, we're going to talk about  how disappointing this world could be?  And what are you gonna do about it?  As to what I pointed out in my last writing, due to survivorship, humanity has to be irresponsible, self-centered, selfish, self-...

After all, we're still alive!

PC: Grace Cheong Hi everyone, it's another week, happy to be still alive. Today, I have decided to tell you guys a little bit about myself. I'm a Ph.D. student, supposed to be in Shanghai right now, but the fact is I have stuck for almost two years in my home country, Malaysia, due to the pandemic. At the first six months of the pandemic, I thought maybe I would be back the next day. I didn't even buy a sim card and used the number I bought from the KLIA 2 airport. In the following six months, I was still feeling the same but getting a little worried since I haven't completed my laboratory works and there are many pending tasks and emotions to be managed. By then, I have been using the airport number for almost a year. For the next six months, I was filled with disappointment and resentment. I was helpless and didn't see ...

Who spilled the first blood?

PC: GraceCheongg In the Bible, the book of Genesis, Cain killed Abel because of his jealously towards Abel that his sacrifices to God were accepted. That marked the first murder in the Bible, also believed to be the first murder in human history. If that is true, this story is probably also analogous to the first kill of our close sister species, the other primates that once roamed on the same planet Earth with us.  I am a geologist and had the chance to visit several prehistoric sites of primitive human and primate-like species. Most of the caves were decorated with paints of hunting and herding, and most of the caves show signs of system...

A new world perspective

Image
A NEW WORLD PERSPECTIVE I‘m a trivial object to the ocean, yet my mind could conquer it. Just like what Mr. Yuval had mentioned in his book "Sapien", the 21st century is a CONFUSING ERA. Information can be easily accessed but we could spend a few lifetimes to be experts in the topic we research up to today’s standard. The argument built on the basis that the gap of knowledge in a specific field is getting narrower after a few decades of scientific explorations. In any matter of interest, our latest generation has to first get well-informed and well-comprehend the earliest works before we could find the knowledge gap. Let’s give an example of the topic of "visible light", our technologies of studying such a topic had reached up to a point that we are way behind what we wanted to know and imagined. Also, since we had a larger population now, it always happened to be that someone else would reap the "RESULT" first before we could do anything. Someone else of...
